I was forwarded an email from a coworker I don’t really work with much.
Evidently he was a former academic now turned Silicon Valley Architect.
He had written this hyper-verbose email explaining why his team shouldn’t be the ones deleting their old files on a particular shared Unix cluster. Boiled down — it was outside his team’s scope of concern. Evidently the folks that are concerned about it should be doing the deleting.
I think it was the most verbose yet simultaneously bs cop-out I’ve ever heard from an application team. Not only was it pretentious it was so academically verbose it was hard to recall what the original issue was not to mention how out of whack the underlying suggestion really was.
If you are storing files, make sure to delete them when you are done. It’s a shared system so share nicely.
(probably just an overreaction)
